SOLOTICA NATURAL COLORS TOPAZIO

I really like Soloticas because of their comfort, so when I heard that they were making lenses that were brighter and more beautiful, providing more coverage than the Hidrocors, that were the same size and materials, I decided to try them.

Natural Colors by Solotica are usually not very good for dark eyes, because they are the least opaque. BUT, that is NOT the case for THREE of their colors: Topazio (topaz), Quartzo (quartz) and Esmeralda (emerald). These three colors are Solotica's most opaque contacts, but there is a twist: they are newer, which also means they are already being made in the new production line, meaning they are thinner than the hidrocor lenses. Same size, same material, but thinner. That results in lenses that move around a bit, and get dry and irritating after a few hours, and when you look up, the lenses let your natural eye color show.

It's a bummer. The thinner lenses are NOT as comfortable as the old ones. But one thing is for sure, supposedly that is healthier for your eyes, and they are still AMAZING lenses in terms of the color change they provide. They are also a thousand times more comfortable than any American brand of lenses...and this is my picture with the Topazio lens.

  2. Hi,
I'm wondering when this post is from and if you know if Solotica Natural Colors are made differently now (July 2011). I'm considering purchasing the NC Esmeralda but am concerned about comfort after reading your blog. Perhaps I'd be better off with Hidrocharme or Hidrocor? Or maybe they're making ALL their lenses thinner now? I'd appreciate any advice you can offer. Also, now that many of the colored vial contacts in the US have been discontinued, do you know of anyone who sells a good TORIC colored lens?

  3. Hi Shamrocker, and thank you for visiting. This post pre-dates July of 2011, and I have recently purchased new NC Solotica lenses, so once I try wearing them all day I will let you know. Where did you hear that they are being made differently?

    1. Hi!
I purchased Solitica Hydrcor azul but ended selling them on ebay because I was too scared to open the vials because I like the freshlook colors blue and when i look at those and then looked at the pupil hole on the ones in the vial I was like "wow! these soliticas are way bigger!" Is that the case? Is the pupil hole bigger in teh solitica hidro or was it just that specific one of the soliticas? I was so worried to spend that kind of money and them not even work for me you know?
And also my dia is 8.6 and 14.5 the average base curve and diameter so thats perfect for my eye, do you know your measurements for the ones your wearing in the picture? There's nothing worse if the Solitica lenses are just gonna slip and slide around me eye espically for 100 +. Those look like a perfect fit on your eyes! Thank you so much for your help!
