Solotica Hydrosummer Gloss - Azul

Hello everyone, sorry for the long absence. Long time no see. But I hope to resume my color contacts activity here.

I have recently purchased from Viallure (www.viallure.com.br) the new Solotica hidrosummer gloss contact lenses. These are a new line of color contacts, and I am hoping they are not seasonal because they are FABULOUS. They will turn the darkest of eyes into the lightest sky blue color seamlessly. As with all other Soloticas these are 14.2D and 8.7 BC. They are made of Polymacon 62% and 38% water content. They look like hand painted contact lenses that you would get for thousands in NYC. They are comparable to FX Eyes and 9mm lenses. They are thick, but seem comfortable although I did not wear them all day yet. One of the great things about them being thick is that they do not move around in my eyes like the NC lenses do. When lenses move around too much (as a result of being too thin) they cause some pretty awful burning feeling that may irritate the eyes.

These lenses come in 7 colors: Azul (blue), Amarelo (yellow), Branca (white), Ocre (which is an orange/brown color), Verde (green), Vermelho (red), and Violeta (violet). They are all very noticeable colors, and will completely cover your natural eye color. They cost around $110 and are yearly lenses. You can purchase them via the internet from Brazil at www.viallure.com.br or www.wrlens.com.br

  1. Hey.. I enjoy reading your posts. But I have a quick question. I have the same eye color as you and have ordered the Hidrocharme Ice. I didn't like them because the color was real boring. There was nothing to them and they seemed plain gray.

I am between the NC Topazio and Azul (either hidrosummer or NC). What do you suggest? I want people to think they are my real eye color and here is the look I am going for:

  2. Hi JayDub, you are right, that is a beautiful color. I think it's the same that Bar Rafaelli has http://www.yourstuffwork.com/2011/09/bar-refaeli.html. Between the Hidrosummer Azul and the NC Topazios, the ones that will give you that look are the Topazios. The thing is that, for me, the NC line is not comfortable. It is at first, but within an hour or so it starts to burn. Many people feel just fine with them though, so maybe it will be ok. They also move around too much, while the Hidrosummer ones don't at all. The color you are trying to get is a very good mix of light blue, green and gray. The Hidrosummer ones are just blue. But very real looking. Here's how they look in dark eyes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=380Jh4KutkY

  4. THANK YOU SO MUCH for getting back to me. I have been searching for answers and you seems to be spot on with your reviews. We share the same taste with colors it seems as well. I want to note a few things that may help you help me! :)

  5. I am a male by the way. The other thing is, I am happy not getting the EXACT colors as Brian Bloom or the person you linked, as long as I get a REAL natural look. I want people to not know they are contacts. I know that up close sometimes people can tell, but I am definitely looking for something that can come closes to not being able to tell at all distances. I really like the color of the Hidrosummer also and would be happy with that color. But here are a few more questions and then I will leave you alone:

You say the Topaz are your favorite and now after speaking with you I am between those and the Hidrosummer. If the NC are anything like the Hidrocharme I can deal with the issue or comfort. My eyes have seemed to get used to it. Nevertheless, Solotica make Soflex in 4 colors now and I hear those are WAYYY more comfortable than the NC. So I was going to get that Topazio to try the color. BUT.....

Which of the two do you A, like the best and B, say are the MOST realistic (can tell least that they are contacts)? The Topazio or Hidrosummer Azul?

On that note. What is your experience with the Hidrocharme Azul?

Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for answering my questions!!!! :D

P.S. I was about to get the Hidrosummer before talking to you but some dude on YouTube gave them a bad rep with comfort... but like you, I have heard the thickness of them actually makes them MORE comfortable. You and I definitely seem to share more in common which is why I am going to take you opinion over all.

  6. Aww, I am glad you like the blog, and thank you for the confidence you place on me :)

As far as the comfort with the Hidrosummer lenses, I have not worn them all day yet so I cannot tell for sure whether they will be comfortable. And I can't compare the NC's comfort with the Hidrocharme because I never wore hidrocharmes. BUT, I know what you mean about the natural look of the lenses, and the only thing that I think makes the Hidrosummer ones look more natural than the NC lenses is the fact that the Hidrosummer lenses don't move around at all in your eyes. If the NC ones stay put they also will look very natural up close. I think the color of the Topazio lenses is unbelievably great.

That said, my overall analysis still says that the very best lenses for a color change, natural look and comfort are the Magic Tops in Azul (blue) by Optolentes. I get compliments on those lenses (well, on my eyes when I have them on) everyday. No one knows those are not my natural eye color. And I can wear the lenses up to 16 hours a day if need be without a problem.

So my advice would be to go for Magic Tops in blue. Otherwise, if you don't have a problem with the NC comfort and the moving around in your eye issue, then the Topazio is natural looking and the best color. But you should get the Hidrosummers as well if you can afford to get more than one pair. It's worth a try.

  7. I really appreciate you responses. I think I will go with the MT Azul and the Topazio since you recommend to try them both and you like the Azul for overall but Topazio for color.

Just to be clear, these are the Magic Tops you are talking about, correct?

Also, one more question and I PROMISE I will leave you alone:

Do you get compliments on your 'eyes' when you wear Topazio? Or do people know they are fake more than the Magic Tops?

  8. Hey, just thought I would update you. I receive my Soflex Topazio and they fit ridiculously comfortable. And surprising enough they do not move in my eye AT ALL. This is the first time I have had this type of experience where the thing DOES NOT MOVE. Like, I can move my eye anywhere and they do not budge.

  9. But, what I do not like about them is the bulge. I have come to the conclusion that any contact as opaque as these are going to bulge a bit because it is covering the cornea a little too obviously. The only contact that looked completely like my eye was the Solotica Ice. Now, the Ices color was plain gray on my eyes. Not blue tint to it like the picture. So people would ask me what was wrong with my eyes lol. With the Topazio, I hear they look natural, but I am told I look like a cat, vampire or lizard LMAO. I guess they are too light (even though I love the color lol). But even though I love the color, it is only a color you can get away with if it is really your eye. Because people will second examine given the beautifully exotic look.

I was going to order the Magic Top Azul if these didn't go well. But from what I have seen, it seems as if they give a bulge as well. I really wish Solotica would make a style like their Ice, Azul and Mel but with a better, more blue/green color. Their Azul looks too dark on dark eyes even though it support that natural style of make as the Ices do.

I think I might go with the Hidrocharme Mel next in my search for the perfect contact.

God this is expensive. Any thoughts?
